Dalton Harris the latest winner of The X Factor is a rising young star in the (UK) music and performance industry and a vocal talent like no other. Born on the 29th of December 1993, he has defied all the odds despite facing more life adversity than most would endure in a lifetime. Dalton grew up in harsh poverty with 6 brothers and sisters and a single mother. By the time he was 14 he was already working and helping his mother provide for his younger siblings. Harris always had his eyes set on a better life but music was the only constant thing in his life as the found himself homeless at 16 and having to fend for himself. He worked while sending himself to school and after completing college and applying for medical school, chose to go to work on cruise ships. “I wanted to be a musician and have career in music more than I wanted to borrow millions to go to med school and working back half of my career to pay it back and
so I knew music was my passion and identity but also was worth the risk of everything I had to sacrifice, like friends, going out, socialising, any of the normal
stuff teenagers my age would do. Music is the only way. Have ever been able to take care of myself and I’m not just talking financially, It has saved me from.myself and the world countless times so the least I could do is continue to follow it”,Harris said in our meeting.
Winning Digicel Rising Stars and getting signed to VP Records in 2010, making history as the youngest ever to win the televised National song contests at only 16 years old. This was just the beginning of his musical career. After a number of successful releases and number one tracks, Harris felt his creativity was limited
and his talent was serving everyone else but him and so he joined the cruise industry as a Showband Singer, then went on to being lead performer in
production shows aboard Carnival Cruise Lines.
He later went on to entering The X Factor in 2018 season 15, by gaining four yeses from the judges Robbie Williams, Ayda Field, Louis Tomlinson and Simon Cowell. Showing a consistent favourite throughout the show he not only won over the nation hearts with his charismatic personality and extraordinary voice but proving
once again how much of a promising and raw talent he is. Coming out victorious singing alongside known industry artists such as Emeli Sande and his winning single duet “The Power of Love’ with James Arthur and commanding the same levels of stage presence and performance as his peers.
Dalton was signed to Syco, til going independent. XFactor 2020 saw the triumphant return of Dalton Harris to the stage with standout X Factor performance and release of his Debut single Cry which amassed over a million streams so far.
While Dalton has faced harsh critic and online abuse for his sexuality he has chosen to advocate for LGBTQ rights to empower LGBTQIA+ youths worldwide about self acceptance as well as advocating and championing mental health and inclusion. Dalton is working on a documentary to help highlight and bring awareness to the issues affecting gay folks, by using his platform for
representation and bringing awareness and visibility to the issues he has matured
through. Dalton has been in the studio with Lil Eddie, Arrow Benjamin and working extensively with Three Bears production and continually works hard towards his debut album. Harris just wrapped filming a Broadway Musical Film “Closer Than Ever” and has amassed over 10 Million streams across YouTube & Spotify, and over 180k Instagram followers. With so many projects upcoming and things in the creative pipeline, Dalton has an exciting future and career ahead of him. “ I have no idea where I will end up but wherever it is, I want to perform, write and create music and bodies of work that will lead people to love, inclusion, strength and empowerment”
